Curriculum Intent
At Stoke Heath, we offer our pupils the chance to take part in bespoke and personalised meaningful experiences that enhance and extend their learning of the city they now call home, the country and the world around them. These experiences include:-
· Outdoor learning
· Residential experiences
· Stoke Heath 60 (60 things to do before you go to Secondary)
· Cultural experiences
· Clubs
· Educational trips
· Engaging in local and national environmental action
We make the most of our environment and use opportunities for outdoor learning within and across all curriculum areas to develop personal and social skills, communication, problem solving, thinking skills and teamwork as well as English, mathematics, science and other curriculum areas. This will equip the children with the SMSC knowledge, skills and understanding, both pastorally and academically, to thrive and contribute to life in Stoke Heath, Coventry and 21st Century Britain.
Enrichment Activities
Children in all year groups take part in off-site educational visits as well as a full, enhanced enrichment timetable across the school year.
All events are carefully planned to enhance the curriculum.
We also regularly welcome visitors into school to support learning.
A residential visit to Plas Dol-y-Moch in North Wales is offered each year to
all children in Year 6. Whilst there, pupils take part in outdoor activities such as kayaking, mountain walking and rock scrambling.
All of our learners have access to a range of extra-curricular clubs which run throughout the year, both at lunchtime and after school. These include sports, art and book clubs to name a few. Several of our enrichment activities are funded internally, though we may ask for parental contribution from time to time. This is a very important part of Stoke Heath life and we encourage all children to try something new each term.
